From the Park Forest Scenic 5 Mile and more... to nationally renowned performances in music, dance and theater in the Nathan Manilow Theatre at Freedom Hall, the Park Forest Recreation & Parks Department offers an array of programs unmatched by most communities its size.
Among the amenities are four large picnic areas, an aquatics complex, 15 playground areas, a skateboard park, an indoor tennis and health center, 20 park sites, and three miles of hiking trails in the Thorn Creek Nature Preserve & Nature Center. That's in addition to a 45-acre wetland restoration project and the preservation of nearly 12,000 trees on public lands throughout the Village.
Main Street Nights - Capture the flavor of Ravinia in your own back yard without the travel and expense! Grab a blanket, pack a snack and position yourself in the Park Forest Downtown Village Green (Cunningham and Main Streets) for FREE nights of entertainment.
Performances last approximately 45-60 minutes. In case of rain, performances will be moved to Freedom Hall's intimate 330 seat Nathan Manilow Theatre, 410 Lakewood Boulevard. Call our recorded message at (708)283-5647 for weather related changes or cancellations.
South Suburban Special Recreation Association is a therapeutic recreation program that is an extension of the Park Forest Recreation & Parks Dept. SSSRA is organized to provide individuals with special needs or disabilities the opportunity to be involved in year-round recreation programs.
